TVA is proud to announce the production of Épidémie, a new original made-in-Quebec series produced by Sphère média plus (Sophie Pellerin) in collaboration with Quebecor Content. The show is set to air next winter, with filming beginning in the next few weeks.
Julie Le Breton will star in the leading role of an infectious disease specialist – a perfect fit for this immensely talented actress who has won the hearts of Quebec audiences. The series’ 10 hour-long episodes will be directed by Yan Lanouette-Turgeon and written by Annie Piérard and Bernard Dansereau.
Avoiding the Worst
Contagious diseases play Russian roulette with our lives, terrifying human beings since the dawn of time. When an epidemic strikes, the danger can bring out the best and worst in all of us.
Anne-Marie Lerclerc (Julie Le Breton) is the head of a lab whose mission is to identify the causes of public health emergencies and help authorities avoid crisis situations (i.e. bioterrorism, fatal contagious diseases, mass poisonings, etc.). When a mysterious virus suddenly appears within the Montreal population, Anne-Marie and her team find themselves on the front lines in a war against an epidemic that threatens many lives.
“We’re delighted to once again showcase the unique style of writing of Annie Piérard and Bernard Dansereau, who are now taking us into unknown territory, at the heart of a particularly troubling phenomenon,” explains Ginette Viens, Vice President, Brands & Content, Quebecor Content. “In this age of superbugs, this series tackles a very timely issue by exploring a type of epidemic that we all hope would never actually surface.”
Épidémie is a disturbing and provocative series that will inevitably move you with its unsettling content – coming in winter 2020 on TVA.
