This fall, addiktv presents La faille, a series airing in 8 hour-long episodes starring Isabel Richer and Maripier Morin. Produced by Pixcom in collaboration with Quebecor Content, this new, original home-grown series is set in Fermont, Quebec, providing a rare look at life in the province’s northern regions. Filming got underway on February 25.
In the dead of Quebec winter, Sergeant-Detective Céline Trudeau (Isabel Richer) is assigned to a bizarre murder case in the small mining town of Fermont. Upon arrival, she discovers a huge residential and commercial structure built to shelter the townspeople from glacial artic winds. This landmark has now become a crime scene, after the horrific murder of local stripper Justine Fournier. The crime has created quite a stir around town, and it seems that everyone’s a suspect. The tension rises even further when the murder is linked to the supposedly accidental death of a child three years earlier, as both victims’ friends and family become consumed with pain and suspicion.
For Céline, the biggest shock comes not from the investigation itself, but from an unexpected reunion with her estranged daughter, Sophie (Maripier Morin), whom she lost contact with four years prior. Sophie’s anger towards her mother rises to the surface, stronger than ever.
La faille is a powerful crime drama that immerses viewers in several layers of human relationships, with their different rivalries and power plays. It also introduces us to characters struggling with their inner demons, weaknesses and wounds. As the investigation evolves, the lives of Céline, Sophie and several locals will be turned upside down when their most intimate vulnerabilities are brought to light.
A Proven A-Team
La faille is written by Frédéric Ouellet, directed by Patrice Sauvé and produced by Dominique Veillet – all of whom have already demonstrated their immense talent. Lead actress Isabel Richer is a beloved Quebec artist whose impressive range has been on display in numerous projects, and Maripier Morin comes to this series fresh from her critically-acclaimed work in La chute de l’empire américain.
“Quebecor Content is proud to showcase one of Quebec’s most distinctive characteristics, which is rarely seen on screen: its Nordic splendor.
