After last year’s conquest of the Vanier Cup by the Université Laval Rouge et Or team, TVA Sports is gearing up for another exciting college football season starting Sunday, August 25 with the first of 14 games presented on the sports network.
Building on its partnership with the RSEQ (Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec) and U Sports – now renewed until 2023 – TVA Sports will air 9 regular-season games from Quebec’s college circuit.
Here are some of the match-ups you won’t want to miss:
- August 25 – TVA Sports season opener, as the Rouge et Or host the Université de Sherbrooke Vert et Or
- September 14 – First showdown between the Rouge et Or and the Université de Montréal Carabins
- October 20: Final game of the season on TVA Sports, as the Rouge et Or play the Carabins
TVA Sports will also air the playoffs in their entirety, starting with the semi-finals on November 2. A week later, two teams will face off in the Quebec finals for the Dunsmore Cup. Then, on November 16, the Quebec champions go head to head against the Atlantic champions for the Uteck Cup, while the top teams from Ontario and Western Canada play for the Mitchell Cup. The season comes to a close on November 23 in Quebec City, as Telus Stadium once again hosts the Vanier Cup game.
On Friday, August 23 at 7 p.m. – just few days before the start of the season – TVA Sports will present a recap of the previous season and a preview of the upcoming one.
Last year, RSEQ college football viewership on TVA Sports grew 4% during the regular season, 83% for the semi-finals and 28% for the Dunsmore Cup. During the Vanier Cup, TVA Sports drew an average of 288,000 viewers to witness the Rouge et Or victory – up 39% vs. 2017.
