In 2018, in the United States, Amazon has heavily dominated the e-commerce market processing nearly 50% of online purchases. eBay is far behind at 6.6%, followed by Apple at 3.9%.
Amazon generated almost $260 billion US for the year, up almost 30% over 2017. The top categories are computers and electronic products, followed by clothing and accessories. Then comes health, health and beauty, then food.
Pumped by these results, Amazon continues its efforts through its private labels, a perspective that strikes fear among its competitors who, ironically, use the online trading giant as their own sales platform.
