Every week, 7.1 million Quebecers, 96% of the population, watch TV. Viewers spend an average of 31 hours and 6 minutes per week in front of their small screens, a 3.7% drop in one year. The majority of the viewing is done live: 87% of the audience is in front of their screens during the broadcast.

All TVA Group stations (TVA and its 9 specialty channels) are watched by 6.4 million Quebecers every week – that’s 87% of the population. The Group holds a 37.2% market share, making it the most watched television group in the province. Viewership has remained stable (+0.2% share) compared to the same period last year.


In terms of conventional channels, TVA stands out this winter with a 24.6% market share, more than its competitors Radio-Canada (16.6%) and V (5.7%) combined.

Quebec TV viewers dedicate 9 hours and 6 minutes to TVA every week, a slight decrease compared to the same period last year (-1.1%). Despite a sharp increase in the time spent watching Ici Radio-Canada Télé, TVA maintains a lead of about 3 hours over this network. V averages 2 hours and 42 minutes per viewer, down 15.6% from last year.

TVA maintains its leading position every day of the week and its market share is stable (+0.3%). Proof that programming meets the audience’s tastes: TVA has experienced viewer growth during primetime (+1.3% share), has 11 millionaire programs and dominates the Top 10 most watched shows with 7 shows vs. 3 for Ici Radio-Canada Télé.

Specialty channels hold a market share of 12.6%, stable compared to winter 2017 (-0.1% share). Prise 2 and LCN stand out with growth of +52% and +3% respectively.
