Among these enthusiasts, 43% walk or hike, 19% work out in a gym and 18% are runners. Running is popular with 54% of men, as it is one of the simplest and fastest ways to get in shape. People run to lose weight, to train, to improve their health, to deal with daily stresses, and, in many cases, to rediscover the pleasure of being part of a large community that is devoid of elitism.
